It’s been a busy week, but that is no excuse. I have found myself slipping in the healthy eating department (I ate two cookies today) and not keeping up with my blogging. The good new is my workouts are fabulous. I have discovered a new yoga studio that I absolutely love and since I still love my gym, I have lots of choices to make in the exercise department.
This week was a travel week and I had to drive to Salt Lake which is a 4 and a half hour trip. It gave me lots of time to catch up on my podcasts. My favorite podcast for driving distances is “Happier with Gretchen Rubin”. I always come away with something useful and while I am driving and listening I often compose an entire blog in my mind, I just get lazy and don’t write it down.
However, today on my drive to work an idea that Ms. Rubin shared (it was actually one of her listeners) was to use this phrase when working thru a situation with someone and you are getting nowhere. “What would you do if you were in my situation?” It works! At work, I am in the middle of a project and there is a snag that I just did not know how to work around, so that is exactly what I did. I asked them, “If you were in my situation, what would you do?” And they told me what they would do. I have to tell you that their solution is what I would have done, but it reaffirmed my gut instinct of how to handle the problem.
So for today my advice is if you get stuck and are working through something difficult, ask them, “What would you do…?. Hopefully it will work as well for you.
