It’s been a while since I wrote — and I was trying to do so much better! I guess it doesn’t count when you compose your blog in your head but never get it typed. That is where habit comes in. No excuses, but now I will talk about my topic.
Gratitude, I have realized can be about anything. We tend to express gratitude for love and loved ones, health, wellness, friends, money, comforts, etc. I have come to realize that it doesn’t have to be those big things. It can just be as simple as being able to breath easily. We take for granted those things that are just there. We overlook the simple, simple things that we are, have, and are able to do. As we move up Maslow’s Hierarchy we tend to express gratitude for those things we want or provide levels of rather than the things that simply allow us to be. It may seem like your WiFi and battery are the most critical in the moment, but in reality they aren’t!
Here are some things I am grateful for this morning :
- Being able to get out of bed every morning
- Having a bed to get out of every morning
- Taking my first deep breath in the morning
- Having something to eat in the morning
- Having a place to go to work in the morning
Pretty simple and I could go on and on. I guess I am just grateful to be alive. Everything else is just icing on the cake. Sometimes there is more icing and sometimes there are sprinkles. Gratitude is all about perspective.
